The Talon is the student newspaper of our school, produced entirely by students in the journalism program. Reporters pitch, report and write; editors assign and revise; photographers and designers shape how every story looks on the page.
Our mission
We report accurately and fairly on the issues that affect students, and we give the student body a place to argue, celebrate and be heard. We publish work we can stand behind, and we correct what we get wrong.
Editorial standards
Every article is fact-checked and edited by at least two editors before it runs. Opinion pieces are clearly labeled and represent the writer, not the paper. Anonymous sources are used only when a student would face real consequences for speaking on the record, and only with an editor's approval.
Corrections
If we published something inaccurate, tell us. Send the details through our contact page and we will review it, correct the story and note the change at the bottom of the article.
Join the staff
No experience required — most of our reporters started with no bylines at all. Come to an interest meeting at the start of the semester, or send us a note and an editor will get back to you about open reporting, photo and design roles.
